Journal ~~ Vocabulary and idioms ~~

1. Compassion (noun)
Meaning : Sorrow for the distress of others.

Ex : Seems I may have at least part of my answer about teaching compassion to my daughter.

2. Quit cold turkey (idiom)
Meaning : Quit a bad habit such as smoking or drinking alcohol suddenly, without any gradual adjustment.
Ex : He quit cold turkey, and since, he has never put one of those stinking cancer sticks between his lips.
3. Throw in the towel (idiom)
Meaning : Give up doing something because it is too difficult to continue.
Ex : Toshiba’s HD DVD ready to throw the towel?

Compassion is really full meaning "Sorrow for the distress of others". I believe that others have the same your defining,too -_+ !

I think my dad quit smoking cold turkey, for the most part...I'll have to ask him about that again sometime...
